It's no secret that the fashion in Emily in Paris has become its own character within the show. And through the likely endless fittings and designer labels that the show's lead Lily Collins had to put on, she recently revealed her favorite look from season four.
Netflix released part one of this most recent season of Emily in Paris on August 15, which centers around Emily Cooper and her various marketing adventures and romantic escapades in the French city, while wearing some of the most dramatic outfits you've ever seen. Part two was released on September 12 and is set in Rome, bringing the show to another European backdrop but this time, with Italian inspo.
In a recent interview with People, Collins revealed that she does have a favorite outfit from Emily's time in Rome and said that the team behind her style pulled inspiration from classic Audrey Hepburn films.
“I think there's an outfit in the two episodes at the end, which was a vintage Elias skirt and a white collared shirt with flats and a little scarf,” Collins said. “It felt, to me, like a real departure for Emily, and more Italian, more holiday vacation vibes, and more practical running around with flats.”
She continued: “It just felt cinematic.”
“And [costume designer Marylin Fitoussi] always tries to draw inspiration, but give it an Emily twist. And so I think, for us, that was exactly what we did,” Collins continued, mentioning that some of the scenes were an homage to Hepburn's Roman Holiday.
“We took images that were so iconic,” she said. “So it's important to always have that touch.”
The first part of the season had major fashion moments as well, but not many topped the now infamous black and white striped cat suit-dress hybrid that Emily wears to a masquerade ball. It turns out that the team was inspired by Truman Capote's infamous Black and White Ball from 1966, mixed with Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady.
