I don’t make smoothies often but yeah I can use a blender.
Many years ago, I did get recruited for a Visual C++ job because I knew Visual Basic, and they both had “Visual” in the name…
“They were going door to door asking if anyone knew any scientists. I said look no further. They asked me if I knew anything about power plants. I said as much as anyone I’d ever met. They asked me how well I understood theoretical physics. I said I had a theoretical degree in physics. They said welcome aboard.”

In interviews I’m just like “yes, I can do pivot tables”. No I can’t, but I can Google it and figure it out, but it doesn’t even matter because they never ask me to make one- ever. I always get the job because I mention “pivot tables” verbally and on my resume.

Almost every interview I’ve had! Have a stressful conversation with an employer until it finally clicks that they have no idea about the job you’ll be doing for them or what skills are required.
And he fail upwards to the top while the real workers grin and bear it.
Most interviews are about likability.
